In a world where images shape ready-made ideals, Léa Esmaili disrupts, distorts, and reinvents them. Through this photographic book, she questions the place of women in a society that molds, observes, and exploits them. The women portrayed here are neither idealized figures nor objects of desire; they are real, vulnerable, powerful, and unsettling.
This book is a dance between innocence and rebellion, between the invisible and the unexpected. A visual manifesto for all those who fight—here and elsewhere—against constraint, in pursuit of a freedom that knows neither color nor predetermined form. Because art, in its raw and absurd brilliance, has the power to transform a world built by men, for men.
Léa Esmaili is a self-taught photographer and director.
She began her creative journey through photography, developing an absurd and highly contrasted visual universe that she later translated into filmmaking. Today, she works across a wide range of media, moving seamlessly between live action and animation while creating photographic campaigns for both advertising and the music industry.
Alongside her commercial work, she has spent the past two years developing personal projects driven by a clear editorial vision: exploring women and the ways they are treated in our world. Through these projects, Léa asks difficult questions and answers them in unexpected, absurd ways that challenge conventional perspectives.
