(UN)DRESSING by Eugene Shishkin is the first book published by Badlon. The book features 93 scenes with various individuals and couples, in which the artist explores the routine yet intimate process of putting on and taking off clothes.
curator's text :
Every morning we begin the day by putting the clothes on, and every evening we close it off by taking them off. A marker of a routinely life of a modern man, and one of the very few we perform almost entirely unobserved.
In this series, Shishkin photographs individuals and couples in that narrow interval: the seconds between being covered and uncovered, between private and presentable. His subjects are caught mid-gesture, held in the ordinary choreography that precedes the day and follows it.
To be present in undressing as an art of intimacy distinct from desire, what is revealed doesn't question the eyes laid on the figures but asks who is permitted in the room of vulnerability.
